The Department of Botany at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks applicants for up two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions beginning as soon as Fall 2024 in the broad areas of plant cell and molecular biology or biochemistry. Candidates should be uncovering fundamental plant biological processes, including but not limited to photosynthesis, growth, physiology and development, resilience, biotic interactions or other high impact areas of plant science. Applicants applying state-of-the-art cell and molecular approaches, such as single cell analyses, quantitative imaging, multi-omics, and advanced data science are particularly encouraged. Candidates should have a proven track record of innovation and high impact research and will be expected to build a vigorous, externally-funded research program with an international profile. The successful candidate will contribute to an inclusive, fair, and equitable environment that fosters engagement and a sense of belonging for faculty, staff, students and members of the broader community.

Qualifications:
A minimum of 1 year of postdoctoral research by the start of the appointment with an emphasis on plant cell and molecular approaches or related research areas. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience with fostering or the ability to foster an inclusive and equity-centered teaching, learning, departmental, and research environment where all can thrive.

Responsibilities:

The candidate will be expected to conduct cutting-edge scholarly research as well as provide service to the department, college, university and academic community nationally or internationally. The candidate will also perform teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as supervision of graduate research. The successful candidate, as a member of the College of Letters & Science, will proactively contribute to, support, and advance the college’s commitment to diversity among all aspects of their teaching, research, and service.
