The Schenck Lab at the University of Missouri, Biochemistry Department, is seeking an organized and motivated post-doctoral plant scientist. The fully funded position will use biochemistry, mass-spectrometry, and comparative transcriptomics approaches in non-model plants to identify and characterize specialized metabolic pathways. With the goal of harnessing new metabolic pathways to increase crop resilience and enhance production of biologically active metabolites in synthetic biology platforms. Applicants with various backgrounds will be considered with strengths in protein purification and enzymes assays, structural biology, computational biology and phylogenetics, or metabolite extraction and identification using mass-spectrometry or NMR.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
– Ph.D. in Plant Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology or a related field

Responsibilities:

– Planning and performing wet-bench experiments, data analysis and interpretation of results, critique of project strategy.
– Provide project leadership, guidance and mentoring for other lab members.
– Dissemination of research findings in preprint servers and peer-reviewed journals and at scientific conferences.
